My approach in therapy is to develop a warm, supportive atmosphere in which exploration of strategies are developed to create therapeutic changes for my patients. I approach each
patient with a sense of the value of who they are and recognize their unique qualities that can be utilized in making a positive difference in their lives. My therapeutic style is grounded in
respect, authenticity, empathy, and warmth. I believe effective therapy can improve symptoms and quality of life, create hope, increase awareness and insight, and lead to positive changes. I use an integrative treatment approach, drawing upon cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and psychodynamic therapies to determine what will be most helpful for each patient. In treating couples, I utilize Emotional Focused (EFT) strategies and Imago techniques.
"Dr. Andrea Wegner is a life saver....a family saver. Literally.
Like so many families, ours is extremely complicated. There is significant psychiatric illness history in our family tree such as Anorexia, Bulimia, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissism, Antisocial Personality Disorder, Paranoid Personality Disorder, Depression, and Substance Abuse Disorder.
Andrea worked with our family for over two years identifying root causes to serious problems, and creatively problem solving to find paths for every person to live a healthy independent life. There was a lot of rough sledding, and Andrea always found a way to persevere with great ideas and an unrelenting positive and loving energy. Andrea is an amazing person and a gifted therapist."
